It is rumored that by the age of 5, she stole her father’s recording of Glen Gould performing The Beatles’ “Michelle” and listened to it on an endless loop. Sneaky, late-night binge-listening was a regular, obsessive occurrence. Fueled and inspired by her newfound love for the British iconic band, she taught herself how to speak English so that she too could one day be heard all over the world. Possessing a great appetite for diverse musical genres, she recently discovered Brazilian singer/rapper Criolo who ignited a passion for learning the Portuguese language and the Brazilian culture.
MarieAngel met her current collaborator and producer, Funny Peculiar while touring with various bands across Ontario and the multilingual Indie Pop collaboration was born! Over time, they created a unique brand of music that fuses haunting melodies, heavenly harmonies and musical diversity. MarieAngel’s lyrics reflect a delicate balance that she struggled to find amidst life’s beauty and challenges.
Hailed by Radio Airplay has having “a strikingly unique vocal style that is both graceful and alluring”, she has recently released her first ever Portuguese song, a very poignant ballad entitled “Venha Comigo”, also available in French and in English.
